Medical Credit Fund is the only fund dedicated to financing small and medium-sized healthcare businesses in Africa. Medical Credit Fund hired Propelevate to conduct a market study in Côte d’Ivoire and Senegal, to evaluate the business case for different lending models, and to provide recommendations for a partnership strategy and operational model for lending to healthcare businesses. Neumann Kaffee Gruppe (NKG), the world’s largest trader of green coffee, is evolving a new sustainable sourcing strategy, NKG BLOOM, that aims to drive transformational change in smallholder coffee communities. Propelevate assists NKG BLOOM to identify and pursue funding opportunities with philanthropic funders; and facilitates the adaptation of the NKG BLOOM model to specific country contexts, and identifies relevant metrics that provide timely feedback to staff on key operational questions. Propelevate has been engaged by life sciences company Vivacelle Bio to design their Sub-Saharan Africa strategy. Vivacelle Bio has developed a new alternative to fluid resuscitation to address hypovolemia (the lack of effective circulating blood volume). They currently have two variations of their technology in development, a version that can treat blood loss - including postpartum hemorrhage - and a version that can treat septic shock - a leading cause of maternal, neonatal and child death.

The OPTions Initiative is run by Grand Challenges Canada to support innovative and transformative approaches that put women, girls and people with diverse sexual and gender identities in control of where, when, and how they terminate their pregnancy, in countries where there are one or more legal grounds to support it. Options Consultancy Services, the implementer of the OPTions Learning Platform, hired Propelevate to provide technical assistance to the innovators as they develop next generation methods or transition to scale.

Rhia Ventures advances reproductive and maternal health equity by intentionally leveraging capital to center the needs, experiences, and perspectives of historically marginalized people in decision-making. Rhia supports FemTech investors through its Ecosystem Building program, and through RH Capital, a Rhia Ventures fund. Rhia Ventures enlisted Propelevate to develop and lead a masterclass, Scaling Reproductive & Maternal Health Technologies in Diverse Global Contexts; Understanding the Opportunity. Read More

Funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and working with Catalyst Global, and a team of Anglophone and Francophone African consultants, Propelevate completed an opportunity assessment to understand the potential of the private pharmacy sector to expand the reach and use of the HIV prevention medication, PrEP, in Africa. Propelevate worked with Frontline AIDS’ Climate Task Force to understand how climate change was impacting the HIV epidemic and those most impacted by HIV, and develop a strategic positioning on how the network should engage locally, nationally and globally in response. Propelevate authored an evidence brief, created Frontline AIDS’ Climate-HIV Framework to showcase how climate change is impacting HIV, and supported with donor and partner meetings. Read More
