Propelevate has been engaged by life sciences company Vivacelle Bio to design their Sub-Saharan Africa strategy. Vivacelle Bio has developed a new alternative to fluid resuscitation to address hypovolemia (the lack of effective circulating blood volume). They currently have two variations of their technology in development, a version that can treat blood loss - including postpartum hemorrhage - and a version that can treat septic shock - a leading cause of maternal, neonatal and child death.

Vivacelle has brought on Propelevate to design a business plan focused on Sub-Saharan Africa, to help fundraise with global health investors, and eventually, to help design and execute their go-to-market strategy in targeted African countries.

The OPTions Initiative is run by Grand Challenges Canada to support innovative and transformative approaches that put women, girls and people with diverse sexual and gender identities in control of where, when, and how they terminate their pregnancy, in countries where there are one or more legal grounds to support it. Options Consultancy Services is the implementer of the OPTions Learning Platform, and hired Propelevate to provide technical assistance to the innovators as they develop next generation methods or transition to scale. Propelevate conducted a needs assessment and then developed five courses related to business development, moving discoveries in the lab into the market and marketing communications.

Funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and working with Catalyst Global, and a team of Anglophone and Francophone African consultants, Propelevate completed an opportunity assessment to understand the potential of the private pharmacy sector to expand the reach and use of the HIV prevention medication, PrEP, in Africa. In each of the 18 prioritized countries, the team conducted desk research and key informant interviews with industry experts and representatives to understand the sector and players, to calculate potential reach of target groups through private pharmacies, and to identify key trends and insights to inform recommendations about the potential challenges and opportunities of private pharmacies for PrEP distribution to BMGF.
